At 21 years old I felt like my life was going nowhere. I was lost, broke, and working three jobs. I grew up lacking confidence, and was constantly bullied and teased. I was in a relationship where I was controlled and manipulated. I felt trapped and alone, wandering through life feeling like I had no purpose.
Then I discovered photography. It quickly became one of the only things that brought me joy - it was my escape. I’d force my three sisters and closest friends to be my models - we’d dress up and run around town taking photos in fields. It was the first time in my life I remember feeling free, and I was immediately hooked.
Desperate for change, I applied to photography school and got accepted. I didn’t know what the future would hold and I was scared to death. I wasn’t ready. I couldn’t afford school (yay for student loans). I didn’t even own a camera. All I knew was the voice inside telling me I had to try. That moment was when everything changed for me. Taking a chance on myself is what transformed me from that lost girl into a confident photographer.

I created Horizon Found to educate, encourage, and uplift fellow photographers. I want to give you the confidence to believe that you are enough, and to show you that you already have everything it takes to achieve your dreams. The key is taking action, because having a vision alone will never get you where you want to be. It takes hard work, courage, resilience, dedication, and continued focus on your craft day after day. It takes falling and getting back up. It takes perseverance and follow through.
